Activities
Through an adapted activity programme with its focus on the people and what they can achieve, we have been contributing to mastery and quality of life since 1983.
Children's Ridderweek is aimed at children and young people aged 10 to 16 with disabilities, and takes place early each year in January. The focus is on basic skiing skills, and no prior experience is required. With capable instructors at their side, participants will be looked after rather well, practising skiing in a safe and supportive setting.
The timing is quite deliberate. By running the week in January, participants can take their newly acquired skills out for a spin through the rest of the winter. Each day includes two cross-country ski sessions, with children and their student companions grouped according to the kind of support they need.
Children's Ridderrennet
The children have a rather grand day of their own each January: Children's Ridderrenn. The week rounds off with the race on Friday, followed by a prize-giving in the sports hall at Beitostølen Healthsports Centre. Cabin handover and departure happen on Saturday morning.
The race is also open to anyone else who fancies taking part, with young people rehabilitating at the centre joining in as well. Pupils of the same age from nearby schools come along as companions, which makes for a cheerful crowd and a spot of mutual learning about adaptive sport.
